or More Chairs for Joe
This piece serves as a reflection upon virtual environments and Conceptual representation. In having two videos representing the same space and object (emphasis on representation), the diptych aims to creates a tension between the authenticity of online-lo-fi video and the believability of computer graphics.
2 Chairs are virtual artifacts of their referent. In doing so, they make a void of space and place.
The project is also a response/homage to Joseph Kosuth's
One and Three Chairs(1965). The piece consists of three chairs; one physical, one representational, and one semantic (or textual). This piece aims to complete more of the semiolgoical picture Kosuth provides for us, as well as commenting on the conceptual depiction and representation of physical and virtual content.
